What is your vice?
You know those terrible habits such as jealousy, hate, bitterness, gambling, drugs, alcohol, pornography, sexual urges and/or cravings? C’mon, I can’t be the only one struggling with vices. Lets share!
We all have habits good or bad. That’s nothing new. But when the bad habits you’ve picked up are destructive, and you find them hard - nearly impossible to change them...they are known as vices.
Believe it or not, my vices happen to be caffeine and sugar, which can equally be destructive as any other terrible habit. Seriously, I found it very hard to start my day off without caffeine coffee. Are you kidding me (with all of the crazies around the office I needed an extra shot of caffeine to get me through it)? Decaf simply would not do.
But when I tried to get off of it…ah man, the crazy-painful headaches would send me into a whirl spin. Needless to say, the rest of my day would be ‘shot’. I would be no good to anyone, seriously. It would really be that crazy, so much so, that I would give in to drinking a cup of caffeine coffee just so the headaches would stop. This was crazy to me. And, if you’re anything like me, you don’t like anything controlling you. I was being defeated by caffeine. That’s a joke to me, which wasn’t funny… mind you.
Clearly, I don’t like being controlled by anything or anyone. I had to figure my way through this. So with a lot of counseling, praying and meditation – I found my way through it. It wasn’t easy, I tell you. But it was possible. I had to learn how to control my thoughts and focus on positive thoughts. I also kept busy. It worked for me it may just work for you too.

Obsessed or not....

You know what? I’m beginning to think America is obsessed with the Obamas. Since Barack Obama became president the media hasn’t let up. The media follows and scrutinizes his every move along with the first lady and children. When is enough, enough? Do we really need to know the church they’re planning to attend, the type of dog for the girls, first lady style designers … so on and so forth. Given the media attention, is there a hidden agenda? Do we really want to see him fail or succeed as a president? Send me your thoughts.

Success Matters
Today was quite interesting. I was listening to talk radio while on my way to a meeting as usual. The subject was on “How do you measure success?" There were several callers bragging on their success and how they finally made it. Clearly, they measured their success on objects those material things that they purchased. Now, there were other callers that had fallen on hard times due to the bad economy. Equally, they were anxious to get back into the workforce and claim that same level of success they once had. Needless to say, I was quite taken by the callers along with the subject matter itself. Wouldn’t you? Now, for the sake of argument, I don’t believe you measure success by how many cars you have or clothes and shoes you can buy. Although, it’s ok to purchase those items but it doesn’t necessarily make you successful. You can have all the money and success in the world and still your life and household may not be in order. Right?!
Your success should be measured by your leadership in your household and your community. I believe you can be successful in raising a healthy-stable family, working in your community and giving back to those that are less fortunate. Truly, this is the measure of success.
Given the recession we’re now living in - there are so many people that are jobless. Don’t think that it couldn’t happen to you. Manage your life, money and time wisely.

Much Hype on Madonna
I have mixed feelings about this. As much as I commend Madonna for doing such a deed. I often wonder about the first adopted child from Malawi. I mean, I would really love to hear how he's doing and is he learning about his family in Malawi? Don't kid yourself - I'm sure she faces a lot of challenges raising a black child.

President Obama in Europe
President Obama will bring a full agenda to the G-20 Summit in London today. The G-20 consists of finance ministers and central bank governors from the European Union and 19 countries. This group represents 90% of the world's Gross Domestic Product.First on the list: creating a global stimulus package, preventing protectionism by individual countries, helping developing nations that have been hit hard by the recession and toughening regulations on financial markets.
Of course, the Presidents has his work cut out for him, trying to convince world leaders to get on the same page.

Addictive
Interesting enough, far too many people spend far too long on social networking sites, which begs the question just how addicted are you? According to the report published by Sophos, over 14.8% of users spend “virtually all the time” on Facebook. (Source: Sophos).
Now, Twitter is what everyone is talking about. I admit, I am hooked on twitter. There I said it! It is the first step to recovery, right? I spend countless hours tweeting on twitter, reconnecting with friends on facebook and connecting with new friends on tagged and iseecolor. It’s crazy!
So what makes these online social networks so addictive, is it looking at the photos from the party last night, chatting to your friends through the wall, playing them flash games with your friends or checking in on your friends life? You tell me.
Did you know…
• There 33 million Facebook users in the United States
• 55% of US Facebook users are female, and female users outnumber male users in every age bracket
• 52% are between the ages of 18-25, but the younger and older groups are growing
Did you know …
• 19% of online adults age 18-24 have used twitter or something like it
• 20% of online adults age 25-34 have used twitter or something like it
• 10% of online adults age 35-44 “ “ “ “
• 5% of online adults age 45-54 “ “ “ “
• 4% of online adults age 55-64 “ “ “ “
• 2% of online adults 65+ “ “ “ “
So are you addicted to online social networking? And, if so, what would you do without it?
